Common questions

Which Docker Compose version do I need?

Docker Compose v2.23 or newer, which ships with current Docker Desktop and Docker Engine packages. The templates keep config files inline using configs with content, so one compose.yaml is all you need. Run docker compose version to check.

Why are database ports bound to 127.0.0.1?

So the database is reachable from your own machine and from other containers, but not from the internet. Docker's published ports bypass most host firewalls, so exposing a database on all interfaces is a common cause of breaches.

Where is my data stored?

In named Docker volumes, which survive docker compose down and image upgrades. docker compose down -v deletes them, so back up first.

Is my input sent anywhere?

No. The file is generated in your browser, and passwords are created with your browser's secure random generator. Passwords are never included in the page address.
