Common questions
How much smaller will my photos get?
Phone photos usually shrink by 60 to 90 percent at 75% quality with no visible difference. Setting a longest side, like 1920 pixels, saves even more, because most screens never show the full camera resolution.
Which quality should I pick?
75% is a good default for sharing. Use 85% or more for prints or photos you want to edit later, and 50 to 60% when a form has a strict size limit.
Why is a PNG saved as WebP?
PNG is a lossless format, so it cannot be compressed with a quality setting. WebP keeps transparency and is usually far smaller. Pick JPG if the site you are uploading to does not accept WebP.
Are my photos uploaded?
No. The compression runs in your browser, so your photos never leave your device. It also works offline once the page has loaded.
