Common questions
What makes a resume ATS-friendly?
Applicant tracking systems read your resume as text. They work best with one column, standard section names (Summary, Experience, Education, Skills), real text rather than images, and no tables, text boxes or icons holding key details. Every template here follows those rules, and the PDF keeps the text selectable.
Can I import my existing resume?
Yes. Choose your current resume (PDF, Word .docx or a text file) at the top of the form. Kitloft reads its text in your browser, fills in your name, contact details, summary, jobs with dates and bullet points, education and skills, and you check each section before downloading it in an ATS-friendly template. Resumes from builders with two-column layouts come out as one clean column. A scanned picture of a resume has no text to read, so type those details in.
Is my data uploaded anywhere?
No. Everything stays in your browser. Your resume is saved on this device so you can come back to it, and the PDF is made by your own browser. Nothing is sent to a server.
How do I save it as a PDF?
Press Download PDF, then choose “Save as PDF” as the printer. On a phone, use Share or Save to Files in the print window. Turn off “Headers and footers” in the print options for a clean page.
Should my resume be one page?
Usually one page with under 5 years of experience, and two pages at most for senior roles. The Compact template fits more on a page.
How do I get past ATS keyword filters?
Use the same words as the job description for your skills and job titles, for example “React” rather than only “frontend frameworks”. Add numbers to your achievements; recruiters skim for them once the ATS lets you through.
