Only the owner can read, write and enter. The required mode for ~/.ssh and other private directories.

Commands
Set the mode
chmod 700 my-dir # same thing in symbolic form: chmod u=rwx,g=,o= my-dir
In ls -l output, a file with this mode shows as -rwx------ and a directory as drwx------.
