chmod 711 (rwx--x--x)

The owner has full access, and everyone else can enter the directory but not list it. Used for some home directories.

chmod 711 my-dir
# same thing in symbolic form:
chmod u=rwx,g=x,o=x my-dir

In ls -l output, a file with this mode shows as -rwx--x--x and a directory as drwx--x--x.
